Hypnotherapy Q&As
Can hypnotherapy help with IBS?
Gut-directed hypnotherapy works with the gut–brain connection, using calming imagery and suggestion focused on comfortable, settled digestion.

The gut–brain link
The gut and brain are in constant two-way contact. In IBS that link can become oversensitive, so normal gut activity is felt as discomfort, and worry about symptoms makes them worse.
In your sessions Tim guides you into deep relaxation and uses imagery and suggestion tailored to your symptoms. Together you also work on the worry loop and the stress that feeds it.
What clients work on
- Calming the gut's response to food, stress and travel.
- Coping with pain and discomfort.
- Confidence to go out, work and eat with less fear.
- Daily self-hypnosis, between sessions and long after.
Talking about it
IBS can be hard to talk about. Tim listens, takes it seriously and goes at your pace, and many clients prefer working from home online.
