Booking & practical

Will I be unconscious, or lose control?

You stay aware and in control throughout. Hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state: you hear everything, and you can open your eyes and stop at any time. You remain yourself, with your own values and choices, the whole way through.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Anyone who can understand the language used and follow simple instructions can benefit. Whatever depth feels natural to you is the right depth for the work. Being open to the process matters more than anything else.

Will I remember the session?

Usually, yes. Many people are surprised by how ordinary and clear-headed it feels.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what you want to change. Many clients notice progress after each appointment, and Tim will give you an honest estimate at the free consultation. Stop smoking is a single 2-hour session.

What is the halve-fees promise?

We are not allowed to make guarantees, but Tim is very confident that you will make significant progress within 7 hours of hypnotherapy (usually five sessions). If for any reason, further sessions are required or desired for the same issue, fees will be reduced to £97.50/hour (ongoing). See prices.

What happens at the free consultation?

A relaxed 15–30 minute call by phone or video. You describe what is going on and ask whatever you like, and Tim explains how he would help. See book a free consultation.

Who will I see?

Tim Dunton, every time. He has trained since 2004, with over 20 years' experience and hundreds of clients helped, and is a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), and is a Master Practitioner of NLP trained by its co-founders, Richard Bandler and John Grinder. See about Tim.

Can I have hypnotherapy alongside medication or counselling?

Yes. Tell Tim what you are taking and who else is involved in your care, and your sessions will be planned to fit alongside it.

Can I see you alongside my GP?

Yes. Tim is happy to work alongside your GP or medical team.

Do you work with children?

Yes, for things like worries, exam nerves, fears, sleep and habits. A parent or guardian gives consent and comes with them to their sessions.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential and notes are kept securely. The only exceptions are the usual ones: a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or a legal duty to disclose. See the privacy policy.

Are sessions recorded?

Not unless you ask. Tim can give you a self-hypnosis recording to use between sessions.

What if I fall asleep?

It happens now and then, usually when someone is very tired, and it does no harm. You will be gently brought back.
